Party's Over at Restaurant Les Princesses d'Hochelaga with Topless Ban
Some people are willing to go extra lengths to improve business. In the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough of Montreal, the restaurant Les Princesses d'Hochelaga had topless waitresses attracting and serving customers for over eleven years. So popular was the restaurant that people from as far as Ontario and the United States would come to the restaurant for a visit. However, the Quebec Superior Court recently banned the practice of topless waitressing for that restaurant because it lacked a permit for erotic exhibition. Because it was located near the Olympic stadium, it couldn't get one either. After the ban, business dropped sharply, for obvious reasons. The restaurant had also lost its liquor license in 2008 and haven't renewed it until just recently.

Hospital Nurses Shut Patient Up By Putting Tape Over Her Mouth
The Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah got flak from a patient's daughter for doing an inhumane act. Brittany Bilson's mother, Penny Artalejo, got bad treatment at the hospital. Due to an accident years ago, she had a medical problem that required her to take special medication regularly. However, recently the problem got out of hand when her mother had overdosed on painkillers. Artajo's daughter had to call 911 to get her mother to the hospital quickly. Expecting her mother to be treated well, because the service was alright in the past, Bilson was surprised when her mother told her that two nurses had placed tape over her mouth to keep her silent because of uncontrollable chattering of her teeth. When the daughter complained, hospital administrators investigated and later fired the male and female nurses, who will never become nurses again because their actions were recorded by Utah's Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.

Charlene Ferrero Dies After Sleepwalking into Lake and Drowning
Sleepwalkers have been known to do many strange things and totally forgetting about them afterwards, such as defecating publicly in the streets. Sometimes it can be fatal. Charlene Ferrero was a fifty-five-year-old woman who had a sleepwalking problem since she was a child. A few nights ago, her latest sleepwalking episode became fatal when she drowned in a lake after falling from a train trestle. She had gone out from her apartment in the middle of the night and unwittingly walked to her own death. Neighbors had reported to the police of a suspicious woman walking zombie-like in the streets, but apparently nothing was done. Teresa Cerini, Ferrero's neighbor, had encountered Ferroro that night, but did nothing to stop the dangerous sleepwalking. It wasn't until early next morning that her body was found floating up in the lake.
Sleepwalking has been blamed on genetics and sleeping pills such as Ambien. However, there's no conclusive evidence linking to either theories. There has yet to be a scientific explanation for this kind of behavior.

Woman Desperate for Sign Sees Jesus in Melted Crayons
Claims of Jesus appearing on everyday objects and places appear in the news occasionally. Recently, a woman in Blue Springs, Missouri claimed to have see it in her son's crayons that were recently melted in an oven. Melting crayons is a common activity for kids. Tara Gomez was desperate for a divine sign from God, and she apparently got what she wanted in one of the most ordinary of places. Skeptics say that people have a psychological tendency to see what they want to see in meaningless patterns and squiggles. Whether Gomez's son's melted crayons is an actual sign from God or the result of an overactive imagination is up to the reader to decide.

What Comes Around Goes Around: Shoplifters Got their Vehicle Burglarized
Karma may exist after all. One late afternoon, Korin Vanhouten, forty-seven, and Eldon Alexander, thirty-six, shoplifted at WinCo Foods in Ogden. They stole low-value goods worth around twenty-five dollars, but was discovered and cited. When they returned to their truck, they realized that their stereo, amplifier, drum machine, and cigarettes were stolen. Despite a police car being parked right next to the store, the burglary of sixty dollars worth of items in their vehicle still took place. Not a fair exchange for the time spent in the illegal activity.

From Demonic Dog to Demon-Warding Pendants
Olga Horvat, an artist residing in New York, capitalized on the tragic accidental death of her poodle toy dog by using it as part of her dramatic sales pitch for demon-warding pendants. She claimed that after purchasing Princess, he family went through constant bad luck, such as a costly $7000 bed bug termination fee, her husband having a car accident and then getting Churg-Strauss Syndrome (an autoimmune disease), and her young daughter almost getting kicked out of school for touching a Muslims student with a glove (cooties).
Shortly after her dog died, she published a book called Paranormal Pooch, which talked about her experiences with the alleged demonic-possession of her dog that she was never able to train. Along with the book, she began selling energy shield pendants for both people and dogs. Skeptics were unconvinced of her dubious claims of her dog story, which could be explained conventionally, and her jewelry. Glen Dash, who tests goods for supernatural shielding effects, sad that demon-warding claim of her jewelry is nothing but baloney. Joshua Warren was less judgmental, merely saying that her claims are hard to verify.

Crazy Woman Stabs Classmate in Anger Management Class
Luna Oraivej, a thirty-seven-year-old woman, was attending anger management class taught by the Court Services Institute along with many other people. Things were routine until a woman got to class late. Despite being against the rules, the instructor, Eric Leberg, allowed the late woman in class, most likely because of the red bandana on her leg, which is a sign of a gang member. A video of Dr. Phil was showing, and it happened to pissed off Faribah Maradiaga, the latecomer. Luna Oraivej told the Maradiaga to give the video "a chance", and that remark got her stabbed by Maradiaga. Maybe the mental institution is a more fitting place for her? Leberg did nothing to stop the violence nor asked Oraivej if she was alright after Maradiaga was arrested. Despite suffering from bloody wounds, Oraivej continued attending class out of fear that she won't get credit. Afterwards, she sued CSI for compensation.

Christmas Celebration Banned in Canadian School
In what some view as a forceful posturing of political correctness, an Ottawan school in Canada has decided to ban the traditional celebration of Christmas. That means that there would be no decorations, music, food, or anything else related to Christmas. Staff and students will have to put up with a generic arts and crafts day. Principal Rowland claimed that it was done out of respect for the multicultural aspect of the community. This looks like another step in the slippery slope towards the removal of traditional Western culture.

Holy Western Wall in Jerusalum Not Built by Herod
Herod was originally credited with building Temple Mount, an ancient temple built during Roman times. However, new evidence counters that claim. Several coins that were made during the governorship of Valerius Gratus in 17 A.D. suggested that the Temple was built many after Herod's death. In addition to finding other Roman artifacts, this finding provided more evidence for the theory that unemployed Jewish workers revolted after finishing the wall.

New Internet Meme: Pepper Spraying Cop
A disturbing act by a police officer was recently captured on video with a cellphone and gained viral status online. It involved a police officer pepper spraying peaceful Occupy Wall Street protesters at UC Davis. People called for the resignation of Chancellor Linda Katehi, who called for an investigation of the incident. Charles J. Kelly, who formerly worked for Baltimore Police Department, said the action was nothing unusual and done according to protocol. It's common for police officers to pepper spray people who aren't compliant with police orders.
Regardless of who's in the wrong, the spraying police officer, Lt. John Pike, is starting to become a meme. There are countless images of him photoshopped on to famous paintings and art including Manet's "Luncheon on the Grass" and Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte".

Caffeine in My Feces? It's More Likely than You Think
Caffeine concentration in the water is a good indicator of pollution from the sewers, a study done Canadian researchers claimed. Professor Sébastien Sauvé and his fellow researchers at the University of Montreal discovered that the amount of fecal coliforms such as E. coli bacteria in the water correlates strongly with the concentration of caffeine in the water. Though the water samples contained other chemicals like Carbamazepine, caffeine showed the strongest correlation. Since caffeine is only discharged by people, it is a sure fire way of detecting domestic water pollution.
