Mayor Jim Preacher Gives Tit-for-Tat to State Trooper Who Pulled Him Over

On Janurary 18, Jim Preacher, the mayor of Norway, South Carolina, was pulled over by a state trooper for speeding. He went over 70 miles per hour on a 55 mile per hour zone during the evening. Just minutes after the small town mayor was cited, he retaliated by pulling the state trooper over, saying that he was Norway's chief constable and he suspected the state trooper's vehicle was involved in a recent robbery. The state trooper was released after the mayor reviewed his registration and license. How often Jim Preacher acts as a law enforcer is unknown. That the mayor is also the chief constable of his town came as a surprise to many in the small town of three hundred and sixty. Preacher made headlines in the past after breaking into the mayor's office because he lost his keys.

Wine Marinated with Meteorites: Can You Really Taste Space Rocks?

A British astronomer who also happens to be a winemaker came up with a new gimmicky wine that he claimed to be marinated with meteorites from the asteroid belt that's over 4.5 billion years old. Ian Hutcheon called his Cabernet Sauvignon wine the Meteorito and made it in his own vineyard located in the lush Cachapoal Valley of Chile. He claims that by purchasing his wine, people will be able to drink "elements from the birth of the solar system". The rare meteorite used for making the wine was lended to him by an American. It crashed into the Atacama Desert over six-thousand years ago. Regardless of how the meteorite acts just as a placebo in the taste of wine, Drinks Business and Forbes find it interesting enough to be taken seriously. This gimmick is strikingly similar to the Crystal Skull Vodka.

Will the Twinkie Eating Stunt by Kobayashi Save Hostess?

Wendy Williams invited the gluttonous master eater, Takeru Kobayashi, to "The Wendy Williams Show" on Fox to set a record in the Guiness Word Record books. The food in question is the Twinkie, a mascot of the Hostess snack company. It's obviously a publicity stunt to save the dying company, but one could give credit to them for originality.

There weren't any records for eating Twinkies, therefore Kobayashi could have stopped eating after a few twinkles, but he wasn't going to leave his future competitors an easy challenge to beat. In less than minute, Kobayashi cleaned the plate of 14 Twinkies while a representive from Guiness looked on. Even after the one minute was over, he continued devouring the remaining Twinkies until nothing was left. Whether the stunt would save Hostess from bankruptcy or at least the Twinkie has yet to be seen.

Russian Scientists Claimed to Have Found Life on Planet Venus

In 1982, Soviet Russians set a probe to explore Venus. The probe sent back a lot of photographs. It wasn't until recently that Russian scientists revealed what they had discovered on the inhospitable planet where surface temperatures can reach up to 464 degress Celsius.

Leonid Ksanfomaliti of the Space Research Institute of Russia’s Academy of Sciences say the photographs provide evidence of life on Venus, an planet once declared to be devoid of all life. Ksanfomaliti describe the objects in some of the photographs as a "disk", a "black flap", and a "scorpion". Another scientist, Boris Zveneko, say that the lifeforms have adapted to live in the harsh environment and are different than the life on Earth.

It's more probable the lifeforms that got photographed were just debris that broke off from the craft. Whether they're actual native fauna of the planet has yet to be seen.

1000-Pound Edible Butter Sculpture Goes to the Manure Pit

Calling it excess butter would be a slight exaggeration. The leftover butter was collected from businesses such as Walmart that failed to sell all of their inventory of butter before the expiration date. Artists turned the butter into works of art for display at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. The most prized piece of art in the show was a one thousand pound sculputre of a kid towing his calf. It was awarded to Steve Reinford, a local famer, after the show for use as an energy source to power his farm. It joined the manure from his farm animals into the manure pit, but not beforer the memory of the sculpture got immortalized in photographs . Assisted by a methane digester, various bacteria will break down the butter and produce methane that would used to power a generator.

The butter-themed exhibition might have been a little insensitive at a time when some countries, like Norway, were facing a butter shortage crisis. Some Norwegians even had to resort to illegal smuggling to get their butter. However, the fact the butter was used for the production of energy should calm moral critics.

Hamster Hoarder Gives Up 94 Hamsters to Animal Shelter

A lonely man bought just two hamsters about one-and-a-half year ago for some companionship. Over time the number of hamsters in his house blossomed to ninety-four because of the hamsters rapid reproduction. Because there wasn't much space in his tiny apartment, many of them were forced to live in fishbowls buckets, litter boxes, and plastic Tupperware containers. Because he was poor and lived on welfare, he even had to starve himself to feed his pets.

Eventually, the man decided that enough was enough. He contacted MSPCA (Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and gave up his hamsters. The workers were shocked to find the deplorable conditions the hamsters were living in. However, they were in good health except for some minor cuts due to overcrowding. Mike Keiley, who runs MSPCA, say such acts are uncommon because hoarders usually get reported instead of turning themselves in.

Despite laws passed against pet hoarding, most of them apply only to specific animals and people are reluctant to snitch on their neighbors. Even if rental or leasing agreements disallows pets, often it goes unnoticed.

Strip Club Job and Free Trip Out of Florida for Casey Anthony

The dust hasn't settled yet for Casey Anthony. After rumors spread of Casey Anthony having settled in Florida's southeastern coast, some locals have reacted in both positive and negative ways. She's suspected to have moved either to Port St. Lucie or Palm City. The Body Talk strip club publicily offered Anthony a position as a stripper by displaying the message "Hey Casey We Are Hiring" outside the club. It wasn't a joke and the management says Anthony is prequalified given her appearance in hot body contests. Brian Scheuble, a travel agent working for Go With God Travel, made Casey an offer too: a free one-way trip to any place in the world as long as it isn't Florida. These bizarre offers were made public by the TV station WTSP and the Orlando Sentinel paper. She's allegedly been attending church and was offered sanctuary by pastor Steve Camp at Cross Church. Both supporters and haters of Anthony made their opinions public, with some waving signs saying "Hide Your Kids" and others shouting that Anthony's innocent.

Thirty-Six-Year-Old Virgin Becomes Father of Fourteen Children

Unable to have normal intimate relationships, a thirty-six-year-old virgin in Silicon Valley decided to settle for what he decided was the next best thing: becoming a sperm donor. Six-foot-one Trent Arsenault comes from a conservative religious family in Missouri, part of the Bible Belt. He has donated sperm to over a dozen couples, most of them lesbians, and became the father of as many children. For over ten years, he produced sperm in the comforts of his own home in Fremont and let his clients picked them up fresh for use in artificial insemination. The FDA got wind of his illegal activity and ordered him to stop. He faces the risk of a hefty $100 thousand dollar fine and one year imprisonment.

Arsenault claims to be helping the poor 99 percent people who couldn't afford the expensive services of public sperm banks. Many clients were satisfied of his sperm and would sometimes post images of their babies growing up on facebook for him to see. He runs a website to attract potential clients, which included the test results of STDs, his background, his health, and his diet. He wasn't first to make illicit sperm donations. Bill Johnson, a former Republican candidate for governor, made a secret sperm donation to a lesbian couple in New Zealand.

Not wanting to cease his hobby anytime soon, Arsenault wants a hearing so that FDA might grant an exception. His attorneys want to recategorize his sperm donations as sexual liasons in order to keep his activity legal.

Black Israelite Sues Prison for Shaving His Dreadlocks

Omar Grayson is a former inmate at the Big Muddy Correctional Center. During his time there, he alleged that Harold Schuler, a prison officer, forced him to shave his dreadlocks in violation of his religious rights. Grayson is a member of the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem, an religious group that believes Blacks are descended from one of the twelve tribes of ancient Jews. Grayson was unable to keep his hair because he wasn't a Rastafarian and it was also a security risk. For this violation, he sued the officer in federal court. Illinois law allows inmates to have any style of hair as long as it isn't a threat to safety because weapons could easily be hidden in thick hair. Another concern is that it's easy for a long-haired inmate to change his appearance after he escapes from prison. But those were the issues Grayson were contending. It was the allegation that the hair style rule was applied in an unfair manner. The 7th Circuit court allowed his claim to remain in the judicial process.

Amish Men Jailed for Willingly Breaking Traffic Laws

Some people are willing to break the law in order to maintain the purity of their religious practices and habits. A group of ten Amish men in Mayfield, Kentucky was jailed for contempt of court. The issue stemmed from their refusal to pay fines ranging from $153 to $627 for disregarding the law requiring horse-drawn buggies to be marked with reflective triangular orange signs on their rears. For their deliberate protest of the law, Judge Deborah Crooks sentenced them 3 to 13 days of jail. First to be sentenced and jailed was Ananias Byler, who got ten days. Even while being jailed, the Amish men refused the showy orange jumpsuits, insisting on wearing drab gray ones. All of the ten men are part of the Swartzentruber group, an extremely conservative breakaway sect of the Amish. Jacob Gingerich, the speaker of the group, said that they would break the law again.

Hazel Jones and Her Two Unusual Vaginas

Having two uteruses isn't uncommon, but having two vaginas to go along with them is extremely rare. Hazel Jones, currently a twenty-seven-year-old woman, is one of those one-in-a-million women who got this medical condition callled uterus didelphys. She spoke out public on the This Morning show recently about her condition and how it affected her life. She explained of the pain from the cramps she felt during her periods and how she had to lose her virginity twice. Her friends never understood how she really felt.

Health expert Dr. Dawn Harper of Embarrassing Bodies said that this condition happens when the uterus tube septum fails to split during the period when the female is an infant. When the woman with such a condition wants to have a baby, there would be an increased risk of complications.

Though Jones could get surgery to fix her problem, she didn't chose that option because she was afraid that she would get treated as a post-op transsexual.

Tattoo on Penis Becomes Permanent Erection

A twenty-one-year-old Iranian man was so in love with his girlfriend that he tattooed her initial,"M", on an unconventional location of his body: the penis. In addition, he also tattooed "borow be salaamat" which is Persian for "good luck on your journeys". Unfortunately, the needle used for inserting the pigments beneath the skin went too deep and caused complications which caused him to have a permanent semi-erection. According to the Journal of Sexual Medicine, tattoo needles can penetrate too deep beneath the skin and cause blood vessels to be blocked, which leads fistulas and then possibly pseudonaneurysm, which was what happened to the Iranian man. Because the man could still have sex with his girlfriend, he didn't pursue further treatment for his priapic erection.

Two Hundred Pound Leg Tumor Finally Removed from Thirty-One-Year-Old Man

Nguyen Duy Hai had a tumor on his leg since he was four years old due to a bizzare genetic defect. By the time he reached his current age of thirty-one, his tumor had blossomed upwards to two hundred pounds. His plight was used by the state-controlled media in Vietnam as propaganda for years. His wish to be tumor-free was granted by a generous American physician, McKay McKinnon. Normally, it costs $12000 dollars to do such an operation, but the surgeon did it for free. Under the watchful cameras of TalkVietnam, the ten-hour long operation that took place at the France-Vietnam hospital located in Ho Chi Minh City was viewed live by television viewers across Vietnam. Previously, doctors had cut off his leg, but the tumor remained, so Hai was forced to do the operation. It would take a long time for him to fully recover after the operation.

Weird Creatures Discovered in the Deep Sea Vents of the Indian Ocean

They look like something straight out of a sci-fi horror movie. Strange creatures and even new species have been discovered living around the "Dragon Vent", an underwater area with intense hydrothermal activity. The expedition to survey the vents was led by Dr. Jon Copley, a University of Southampton marine biologist. Exploring in the RRS James Cook, they discovered new species of Yeti crabs, sea cucumbers, vent shrimps, and scaly-foot snails. In all they sampled seventeen different animals.

Copley is especially concerned about China doing deep sea mining in the area. Recently, China has been allowed by the UN International Seabed Authority to do prospecting in the area for possible copper, zinc, gold, uranium, and other minerals.
